She is also initiator of numerouos humanitarian aid projects, as well as activities promoting intercultural dialogue and understanding. She is also doing voluntary service in Bosnian, Kosovan, African, palestinian refugee camps. She has earned recognition from various social, healthcare, political personages. She has been awarded the best Volonteer 2006, Humanist of the year 2007, Face of the European year of equal opportunities for all 2007, and nominated for Slovenian women of the year 2008 and Young European 2008.

Aida Begic

was born in Sarajevo in 1976. She graduated directing at Sarajevo Academy of Performing Arts in 2000. Her graduation film FIRST DEATH EXPERIENCE was presented at Cinefondation Official Selection of 2001 Cannes Film Festival and won numerous awards at festivals worldwide. In 2003 she directed her second short film NORTH WENT MAD. Aida Begić is teaching directing at Sarajevo Academy of Performing Arts and has directed numerous commercials, video spots and promotional films. In 2004 she founded an independent production company MAMAFILM together with her colleague Elma Tataragić and SNOW is their first feature film.

The 14th Sarajevo Film Festival kicked off Friday with a screening of Aida Begic's debut feature "Snow," about life in a village in postwar Bosnia.Aida Begic' film "Snow" world premiered at the 2008 Cannes Film Fest in the Critics Week sidebar.Aida Begić prefaces the director's notes to her first narrative feature Snijeg ( Snow ) —winner of the 2008 Cannes Critics' Week Grand Prize.The Sarajevo Film Festival got off to a strong start with the Bosnian premiere of Aida Begić’s debut feature, already the winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes’ Semaine de la Critique.

Aida Begić graduated in 2000 from the Department of Film and Theatre Directing of the Academy for Performing Arts in Sarajevo. Her graduation film THE FIRST MORTAL EXPERIENCE was shown at more than 20 international film festivals, including Cannes (Cinefondation), and won the Best Short Film Award of the Ourense Film Festival, the Critics’ Award of the Huesca Film Festival, the Methexis Award of the MedFilm Festival...She is also the author of documentaries AUTOBIOGRAPHY and TRIUMPH OF WILL, and the short film THE NORTH HAS GONE MAD.

r. Mustafa efendi Cerić (born 1952 in Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina,) is the Grand Mufti (reis-ul-ulema) of Bosnia-Herzegovina. He is serving his second 7-year term until 2013. He is considered as one of the most liberal Grand Muftis in the world. He is fluent in Bosnian, English and Arabic, and cites a "passive knowledge" of Turkish, German and French . Cerić is married and has two daughters and a son.
Mustafa Ceric is the Reis-ul-Ulema, President of the Council of Ulema, Grand Mufti of Bosnia-Herzegovina. He graduated from the Medressa in Sarajevo and Al-Azhar University in Cairo, after which he returned to Bosnia, where he became an imam. He then spent several years as Imam of the U.S. Islamic Cultural Center, during which time he earned a Ph.D. in Islamic Theology at the University of Chicago. He left for Zagreb in 1987 where he became a practicing imam at a learning center. Mustafa Ceric is the author of a number of books in Bosnian including Roots of Synthetic Theology in IslamHe learned English and earned a Ph.D. at the University of Chicago in Islamic Studies. When he finished his studies, he returned to his homeland, leaving the ICC and becoming a practicing Imam in a learning center in Zagreb in 1987. He officially became the Grand Mufti of Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1999, although he has led the Islamic community in Bosnia since 1993, a fact that has sparked controversy in his re-election.
Dr. Ceric is a member of several local and international scientific organizations and societies, including the Interreligious Council of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Foundation of Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial and Cemetery, the Council of 100 Leadres of the World Economic Forum, the European Council for Fatwas and Research, World Conference of Religion & Peace, the Executive Committee of the European Council of Religious Leaders, the Board of Trustees of International Islamic University Islamabad, the Sharia'h Board of Bosnia Bank International, the Fiqh Academy in Mecca, Aal Albayt Foundation for Islamic Thought in Jordan, the World Council of Religions for Peace, International Commission for Peace Research chaired by Dr. Henry Kissinger, UNESCO and Executive Council of World Forum of Ulama. He has delivered numerous lectures and led several workshops on interreligious and interfaith issues at local and international conferences.
His publications include: Roots of Synthetic Theology in Islam, A Choice Between War and Peace, and European Muslim Declaration. [8.
He is one of the signatories of A Common Word Between Us and You, an open letter by Islamic scholars to Christian leaders, calling for peace and understanding.

Is born 1968. in Zenica,she has finished Gazi Husrev-Bey's madrasah in Sarajevo.She graduated from theology and law, holds a master’s degree in Human Rights and Democracy and did her doctorate thesis in Interdisciplinary Gender Studies.
She has published over 20 articles in Bosnian and English in the fields of women's rights, gender politics in religious traditions, education and cultural heritage. Soon her book will be published under the title "Women, Religion and Politics.”
She translates from English and her most notable books are “The Forgotten Female Rulers of the Muslim World" (Buybook, 2005) and “Islam and the Challenge of Democracy” (Buybook 2006).

Zilka Spahic-Siljak , who also holds a law degree from the University of Sarajevo, is a human rights and Islamic feminist scholar, researcher, and activist with more than ten years experience working on issues of culture, religion, women's rights, and feminism in both the governmental and non-governmental sectors.A scholar-activist in the areas of religion and human rights and Islamic feminism and gender, Dr. Spahić-Šiljak is offering two special topics courses, RELGST 1620: Women in Religion—Islam and RELGST 1800: Marriage and Sexual Ethics in Islam.

She is currently affiliated with the Center for Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies at the University of Sarajevo and is project coordinator for Researches in Gender and Education at the Transcultural and Psychosocial Foundation, where her team has published Gender Equality and Judicial Practice in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2007), Women, Religion, and Politics: The Impact of Religious Interpretations of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam on the Status of Women in Public Life and Politics (2007), and An In-depth Study on Domestic Violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2006). She joins the department for spring term 2009. Zilka Spahić-Šiljak has previously taught at the Center for Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies of the University of Sarajevo, which partners with Arizona State University and the University of Oslo and collaborates with Bielefeld University (Germany), Kent University (UK), and Vienna University (Austria).

She is married and has a one doughter.

She was also solist of Gazi Husrev-bey's choir when she was younger.

Pictured are some typical Bosnian traditional outfits, all of which tell a story of its own.There are many different types of Bosnian traditional outfits and so much could be written about them.One of the biggest knowledge bases for this type of clothes was totally destroyed during the war in Sarajevo.
Looking at all Bosnian traditional clothes, we can notice the difference in style based on whether the clothes was worn in rural or urban areas. This difference arose mostly due to the economic differences between these social groups. Traditional clothing in towns was equivalent in towns throughout Bosnian territory, and certain variations between the national groups have not significantly influenced its core style. Village clothes are much more variedMany variations of clothes from different ethnic groups have been expressed through minor details in clothing accessories and ornaments, in their colour or the way they were worn, but essentially the core category features and characteristics have been preserved.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said: "Whosoever fasted in Ramadan and then followed up with six fasting days of Shawwal, it is like fasting every day." (Muslim)The meaning is that the reward is like the reward of a person who is always in fast every day of his/her life.It is highly recommended to fast six days of the month of Shawwal, but it is not obligatory. Those who want to fast can fast after `Eid Al-Fitr any six days during Shawwal.It is not required to fast six days continuously without any interruption. 1. All the praises and thanks be to Allâh, Who has sent down to His slave (Muhammad ) the Book (the Qur'ân), and has not placed therein any crookedness.

2. (He has made it) Straight to give warning (to the disbelievers) of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allâh Islâmic Monotheism), who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a fair reward (i.e. Paradise).

3. They shall abide therein forever.

4. And to warn those (Jews, Christians, and pagans) who say, "Allâh has begotten a son (or offspring or children)."

6. Perhaps, you, would kill yourself (O Muhammad ) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Qur'ân).

7. Verily! We have made that which is on earth as an adornment for it, in order that We may test them (mankind) as to which of them are best in deeds. [i.e.those who do good deeds in the most perfect manner, that means to do them (deeds) totally for Allâh's sake and in accordance to the legal ways of the Prophet ].

8. And verily! We shall make all that is on it (the earth) a bare dry soil (without any vegetation or trees, etc.).

9. Do you think that the people of the Cave and the Inscription (the news or the names of the people of the Cave) were a wonder among Our Signs?

10. (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!"

Praying in the last ten nights of Ramadan
Al-Bukhari and Muslim record from 'Aishah that during the last ten days of Ramadan, the Messenger of Allah would wake his wives up during the night and then remain apart from them (that is, being busy in acts of worship). A narration in Muslim states: "He would strive [to do acts of worship] during the last ten days of Ramadan more than he would at any other time."
Aisha reported that With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet used to tighten his waist belt (i.e. work hard) and used to pray all the night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers. [Bukhari]

Performing I`tikaf in the Masjid

Abu Hurairah, radiyallahu 'anhu said: "Allah's Messenger, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, used to perform i`tikaf for ten days every Ramadan, then when it was the year in which he was taken (died), he performed I`tikaf for twenty days. [Bukhari]

Seeking Laylatul-Qadr (the Night of Decree)

Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, said " The blessed month has come to you. Allah has made fasting during it obligatory upon you. During it the gates to Paradise are opened and the gates of Hellfire are locked, and the devils are chained. There is a night [during this month] which is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of its good is really deprived [of something great]. [Ahmad, an-Nisa'i and al-Bayhaqi]

For Muslims, the last ten days should be a time to perfect one’s fast and avoid anything that may break it. It is a time to give more charity and to settle disputes and forgive one another.

During the last third of Ramadan, one should read more Qur’an and remember Allah more often, even constantly.

To purify and obtain complete blessings for the fasts of Ramadhân Mubârak one has to give Sadaqatul‑Fitr. It is reported from Hazrat Ibn Abbâs Radiallâhu anhu that Rasulullâh Sallallâhu ‘alayhi wasallam made charity of Fitr compulsory as a purification of fasts from useless talks and vile discourses and also as food to the poor (Abû Dawûd).

The time of Sadqa becomes wâjib on the day of Eid when the dawn breaks.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “If any Muslim comes out of Ramadan without gaining forgiveness and goodness, he is a real loser.” (reported by Ibn Hibban and At-Tabarani)

Gazi Husrev-beg (Ottoman- 'غازى خسرو بیگ' Ghāzī Khuṣrow Beg; Modern Turkish: Gazi Hüsrev Bey) (1480 – 1541) was a bey in the Ottoman Empire during the first half of the 16th century. He was an effective military strategist, and the greatest donor and builder of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He was born in Serez, to a Bosnian father and a Turkish mother, who was the daughter of the Sultan. Thus, Gazi Husrev-Beg was Sultan Beyazid II's grandson. A brilliant strategist and politician, in 1521 he became the governor of the Ottoman province of Bosnia.
Immediately from Bosnia he launched a number of military campaigns against the Empire's enemies in the region, who at that time were basically Venice, Hungary, and the remnants of the Bosnian kingdom. In less than 3 years, Gazi Husrev-Beg conquered the fortresses of Knin, Skradin, and Ostrovica. With such results, he was appointed the governor of the Ottoman province of Bosnia on September 15, 1521, becoming one of Sultan Suleiman I's most trusted men.
What followed was a relentless campaign of conquering. With Gazi Husrev-Beg at the helm, the Ottoman army quickly made major gains in the region. The last Bosnian capital of Jajce is conquered in 1525, as is the important city of Banja Luka in the Krajina region.

Just as important as his military contributions, Gazi Husrev-Beg made a tremendous domestic impact on Bosnia. If Isa-Beg Isaković founded Sarajevo, it was Gazi Husrev-Beg who made it what it is today. He was responsible for the construction of the famous Gazi Husrev-beg's Mosque, the Tsar's Mosque, and numerous other mosques throughout the city. He also constructed the city's first library, madrassa, school of Sufi philosophy, and clock tower (Sahat Kula), along with numerous other important cultural structures.
Gazi Husrev-Beg kept fighting battles until his death in 1541 during an uprising of nobility in Montenegro. He died in a small Montenegrin village Mokro in Drobnjaci, Montenegro. Legend says that he was a big man, so his warriors could not take him back, but to take apart his intestinals, and buried them on small hill (still called "The hodžas hill" - Hodžina glavica). That part of Montenegro, and Montenegrin clan that lives there has a name "Drobnjak" (drob = intestinals). His body was taken back to Sarajevo, where it remains to this day in a tomb in the courtyard of his mosque. Above it is written, "May the mercy and generosity of god fall upon him every day".
Today it is difficult to imagine Sarajevo, or even Bosnia, as we know it without the contributions of Gazi Husrev-Beg. He is remembered chiefly as the greatest donor and builder of Sarajevo, and as a Bosniak national hero. Thousands visit his tomb and give a prayer every year.

Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The modern Bosniaks, often referred to as Bosnian Muslims, descend from Slavic converts to Islam in the 15th and 16th centuries, that lived in the medieval Bosnian Kingdom (they called themselves Good Bosnians, in old Bosnian: "Добри Бошњани"). Bosniaks are overwhelmingly Sunni Muslims, but many of them are a lot more western and express themselves differently then their fellow Muslims in the Middle East. They often chose to be more lenient on the rules mandated by their religion - both in terms of behavior as well as dress and appearance.
Reliable statistics on the precise membership of different religious groups in Bosnia remain unavailable since 1991 due to the recent war in Bosnia.
According to the UN Development Programme's Human Development Report 2002 and many other sources, Muslims constitute 40 percent of the population of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Other religious groups with which Islam coexists in Bosnia are the Serbian Orthodox Church 31 percent, Roman Catholic Church 15 percent, Protestants 4 percent, and other groups 10 percent. The small Jewish community has approximately 1,000 believers and maintains a special place in society by virtue of its long history of coexistence with other religious communities and its active role in mediating among those communities.

The Ottoman era

Islam was brought to this region by the Ottomans. Turks gained control of most of Bosnia in 1463, and seized Herzegovina in the 1480s. In the centuries after the invasion, a large number of South Slavs converted to Islam. Bosnia and Herzegovina remained provinces of the Ottoman Empire until the 1878 Congress of Berlin gave temporary control of the region to Austria- Hungary. In 1908, Austria-Hungary formally annexed the region.
Bosnia, along with Albania, were the only parts of Ottoman Europe where large numbers of Christians converted to Islam.
Under Turkish rule, much of what used to be central, eastern, and southern Yugoslavia took on a distinctly Islamic character.

Secularism

For some Bosniaks that identify themselves as Bosnian Muslims, religion often serves as a community identifier, and religious practice is confined to occasional visits to the mosque or significant rites of passage such as birth, marriage, and death. Due to more modern influences and 45 years of socialism, some Bosniaks have Atheist, Agnostic or Deist beliefs (Pre war estimate of 10% of total population). While there are significant numbers of Bosniaks who practice their faith to varying degrees, for others, this identity tends to be secular and is based primarily on ancestral traditions and ethnic loyalty. Bosniaks also have a reputation for being "liberal" Muslims. Headscarves for women, popular in middle-eastern countries, are worn only by a minority of Bosniak Muslim women, and otherwise mostly for religious obligations

Bosnian war

The genocide during the 1992-1995 war caused internal migration, which almost completely segregated the population into separate ethno-religious areas. Increased levels of returns in 2001-2002 slowed markedly in 2003-2004, leaving the majority of Serbian Orthodox adherents living in the Republika Srpska and the majority of Muslims and Catholics still living in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Within the Federation, distinct Muslim and Catholic majority areas remain. However, returns of Serbian Orthodox adherents and Muslims in recent years to their prewar homes in Western Bosnia Canton and Muslims to their prewar homes in eastern Bosnia near Srebrenica have shifted notably the ethno-religious composition in both areas.
Throughout Bosnia, mosques were destroyed by the armed forces of the major Christian ethnic groups. Among the most important losses were two mosques in Banja Luka, Arnaudija and Ferhadija mosque, that were on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) register of world cultural monuments. These mosques were leveled by Serb authorities in 1993, with even the stones removed from the sites.

Religious leaders from the three major faiths claim that observance is increasing among younger persons as an expression of increased identification with their ethnic heritage, in large part due to the national religious revival that occurred as a result of the Bosnian war.Many Muslim women have adopted Islamic dress styles that had not been common, especially in cities, before the war. Leaders from the three main religious communities observed that they enjoy greater support from their believers in rural areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina rather than urban centers such as the capital Sarajevo or Banja Luka.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, there are eight Muftis located in major municipalities across the country--Sarajevo, Bihać, Travnik, Tuzla, Goražde, Zenica, Mostar, and Banja Luka. The head of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina is Mustafa Ceric.

Hijab Comeback in Bosnia

After being banned for decades by communist Yugoslav rulers, hijab is making a comeback to the streets of post-war Bosnia.

"Being headscarved, I could not study in France, where basic rights are being violated, while here it is possible and normal," Alma, a student at Sarajevo's Political Science Faculty, told Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Thursday, May 17.

In 2004, France banned the wearing of the hijab at public schools and institutions.
Since then the issue of hijab, as an obligatory code of dress for Muslim women, has been thrust into the limelight with many Western European countries following suit.
"The fact that girls wear mini-skirts does not bother me, but I expect that people have respect for me," said Alma, 25, donning a maroon headscarf.

Headscarves in the former communist Yugoslavia, of which Bosnia was a part, were worn almost exclusively by elderly women in rural areas, more out of respect for tradition than as a sign of religious feeling.

Since the 1992-1995 war, hijab-clad women have become a common sight on the streets of the capital Sajajevo, which has a strong Muslim majority.

Yet, in regions mainly populated by Christian Orthodox Serbs and Catholic Croats, the hijab is still frowned upon as it was in the communist era.

In the ethnically divided northern town of Brcko, the issue of freedom of choice surfaced in a conflict between a Serb teacher and a veiled Muslim psychologist in an elementary school.

"My colleague refused my regular visit to his class because of my headscarf," said psychologist Semsa Ahmetspahic.

"I didn't insist on it because Brcko has a specific environment. We try to avoid situations which could lead to conflict," she said.

Brcko and its surrounding region populated by Muslims, Serbs and Croats was proclaimed a special district in 2000 by the international community overseeing peace in Bosnia.

It is autonomous from the country's two semi-independent entities and is ruled by its own multi-ethnic institutions.

The mosque of Behram-bey’s madrasah in Tuzla, is one of the new realisations of the post-war architecture of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The origins of Behram-bey’s mosque and Behram-bey’s madrasah date back centuries to the Ottoman rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The current location of the mosque and the madrasah differs from the original site; their location has been shifting slowly, throughout the centuries.Behram-bey’s madrasah, the theological school, was closed during socialist Yugoslavia. It reopened during the war, 1992-1995, in the former mining school, a late Modernist building from the era of social realism. Soon, it became obvious that theological education could not be conducted in such an inappropriate building. Also, the obligatory namaz or sallat (obligatory prayer) of pupils and teachers five times a day demanded a separate mosque.

Gazi Husref-bey's Madrasah is the oldest educational institution in BiH and one of rarein the world which has been continually working for some 470 years. It was founded on January 8, 1537 by grandson of Turkish Sultan Bajazid II, the most prominent regent and benefactor to BiH Gazi Husref-bey, whose Vakufnama (Endowment) is permanentorganization and programme basis of this school's work. Thanks to Husref-bey's wise testament that this secondary school should study on „other things necessary considering tradition and place“ beside religious and traditional sciences, his Madrasah has always been pedagogically adjusted to conditions and period of its functioning

Several thousands of alims, imams, hattibs (preachers in the mosque), muallims, muftis, hafez and eminent philosophers, artists and scientists have graduated in Gazi Husref-bey's Madrasah. The Madrasah operates today as a vocational school that lasts four years. Tuition is conducted in Bosnian language according to Curriculum, made by BiH Islamic Community Riaset and approved by the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of education and science.

Graduates from the Madrasah can continue their education on each faculty in BiH and many faculties abroad, especially in Islamic world.The Madrasah is a type of boarding school, which enables itsstudents many kinds of activities through different clubs. On this plan, choir club is specially affirmed. The choir club recordedaround ten audio and video tapes of "ilahija" and "kasida" (devotional songs). There is also a Magazine „Zemzem“ which has been continually published since 1968. Gazi Husref-bey's Madrasah operates as a single school with female and male departments.

She was born on October 26th, 1979 in Sarajevo. She has been a part of NTV Hayat team since 2001. She hosted morning show "Jutro s Vama" for four years. Talk show "Arduana" was successfully broadcast in 2004/2005. In 2007/2008 started a new season of "Arduana". She is married, and a mother of two.Her husband is Bosnian fameous singer Aldin Kuric -Al' dino.

Arduana has finished Gazi Hurev Bey's Medresah[Islamic secondary school] and after that she started to work journalist.After she started to work for television house like host lady,she changed her style of hijab.I think that her hijab is not very '''islamic'',but her hijab is not the style of all Bosnian woman.

She is the only tv host lady with hijab who works for TV house in Bosnia.Adriana Pribinja, an anchor for a private Sarajevo television station, has been wearing a hejaab since she was 12. She, in contrast to the traditionally veiled women, uses make-up and wears trousers underneath long tunics. “Some believers do not appreciate this,” she explains. “It happens to me in the street that I meet a woman covered by a nekaab, and she wouldn’t reply to my greeting. She would turn her head away from me. I do not wish to explain to people why I did it and why I do it in such way. Faith is an intimate experience between God and a person,” she adds. During a four year war that tore religious and ethnic communities apart, a significant number of women turned to religion and decided to cover themselves.
In September 2004, TV Hayat aired a talk show “Arduana”, which raised a question of accepting homosexual
people in BiH. This show was a major benchmark given that this whole topic was presented through the prism
of yet unfinished movie of the BH Director Ahmed Imamovic, 'Go West' (the film, among other things,
addresses a love story between two men of different ethnic backgrounds during the war in BiH and their struggle
to “go west”). After the show certain newspapers and magazines published the articles which criticized the host Arduana
and the editor of the show (reference).Avdic journalist in Bosnia called the TV Hayat journalist Arduana Pribinja-Kuric – a pit bull (ironically linking the fact that the journalist is a bula – a person who graduated from an Islamic religious school – and the dangerous pit bull dogs). Avdic is aware that his style is not always up to standard and he does not find it hard to admit this.

Gazi Husrev Bey’s Mosque is open for visitors at all times except during time of prayer. Know that Muslims are a majority of inhabitants of Sarajevo and that this Mosque has a large number of worshipers who attend prayers regularly. Also know that Muslims pray five times a day and each prayer is preceded by ezan or imam’s call for prayer. While some mosques have modernized and now use speakers to broadcast the calls for prayer, Husrev Bey’s Mosque still traditionally uses only the strength of imam’s voice to relay the ezan.

Gazi Husrev Bey's Mosque is the most important Islamic house of worship in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Constructed in 1531, it was left to the city by Gazi Husrev Bey, the Ottoman ruler of Bosnia. The mosque is only a part of Gazi Husrev Bey's substantial bequest to the city.The Gazi Husrev Bey Complex in Sarajevo is one of the main Ottoman complexes in the Balkans. Built in the first half of the sixteenth century, the complex included a mosque, madrasa, Quranic school, khanqah, soup kitchen, hospice, library, khan, bazaar, public baths and two tombs. Gazi Husrev Bey was an Ottoman governor in Bosnia and contributed greatly to the urban development of Sarajevo with his architectural patronage

First of all, this post isn’t about the way Bosnian Muslim women are dressed today. However,i am from Bosnia and it isn’t at all rare to see women in hijab. Niqab is a bit more rare, but they are there.
But the post was about how they used to dress before Communism when the niqab was banned. Yes, the pictures are of Bosnian women. Some our great grandmothers used to dress this way.

Assalamu alaykom all
i am from Bosnia,and this is my blog about hijab .............
